Job Description:

<SpeakGeek/> is an in-person training program that helps non-technical people understand the fundamentals of web programming. The course covers a wide variety of topics including HTML, CSS, javascript, databases, programming languages, APIs, big data, etc.

Although it was started by a small group of entrepreneurs & technologists, SpeakGeek is at this point a community movement, with hundreds of engineers from major tech companies contributing to the curriculum.

Technical topics are often best understood visually, and we're looking for a graphic design intern (potentially you) to help us illustrate some of the major topic areas - this is meaningful work that will help thousands of people be more fulfilled in their non-tech roles at tech companies.

Specifically, you will:

  • Find simple ways to illustrate complex topics -- don't worry, we'll explain them to you.
  • Help develop engaging presentations -- using tools like Keynote, Prezi and After Effects.
  • Influence the look and feel of the companies brand and branded materials.

Photoshop and Illustrator skills are a must. Experience with Powerpoint, Keynote, After Effects or Prezi would be great.

In regards to style, we're looking for illustrations similar to those you could find on

In addition to helping people learn, you will get a $250 per week stipend, be able to attend a SpeakGeek course (normally $1,000), and get access to SpeakGeek's extensive network of industry contacts.

Expect to work 8 - 12 hours per week, with an equal mix of remote and in-person meetings in Palo Alto. To apply please submit your portfolio link or a few example images (preferably in line with the style we're going for).
